Aluminium Windows

Aluminium Picture Windows

A picture window is a large, fixed-frame window that does not open — designed to maximise natural light and frame an uninterrupted view. We manufacture oversized aluminium picture windows in-house in Slough, selecting the right system for each project rather than pushing a single range.

Engineered and manufactured in-house

Every picture window we supply is fabricated in our Slough factory. Being manufacturer-agnostic, we specify the system — Cortizo, Smart Systems or Aluprof — that best suits your opening size, exposure and thermal target, and we regularly pair fixed picture windows with matching casement, tilt & turn or sliding units for ventilation.

High-performance glazing options include low-E coatings for insulation, solar control glass to prevent summer overheating, and acoustic, obscure or impact-resistant specifications where the project demands it.

Picture Windows — Your Questions Answered

What is a picture window?

A picture window is a large window with a fixed frame that does not open. With no hinges, mullions or moving parts, it maximises natural light and frames the outdoor view like a painting — which is where the name comes from.

Are picture windows energy-efficient?

Yes — often more so than opening windows, because a fixed frame has no opening joints to leak heat. Our thermally broken aluminium frames with double or triple low-E glazing deliver excellent U-values, and solar control glass prevents overheating in summer.

What sizes can picture windows be made in?

Because we fabricate in-house on Cortizo, Smart Systems and Aluprof profiles, we can manufacture oversized fixed frames well beyond standard window sizes. The practical limit depends on glass weight and site access, so we confirm maximum dimensions at survey.

Can a picture window be combined with windows that open?

Yes. Picture windows are commonly coupled with casement or tilt & turn units in the same frame, giving you an uninterrupted main view with ventilation alongside — all colour-matched from our factory.

Are aluminium picture windows better than uPVC?

For large fixed glazing, yes. Aluminium is much stronger than uPVC, so it carries bigger, heavier glass panes with far slimmer frames, will not warp over time, and is available in the full RAL colour palette.

How much do aluminium picture windows cost?

Pricing depends on size, glazing specification and system. As a guide, our project minimum is £4,000+VAT. Request a quote with your dimensions and we will price the right system for your opening.
